Bad news: I have had to finish my placement at Blue River after only a week due to a rather unfortunate situation involving my bank account and what has been found in it (specifically, nothing). Which is a massive shame as they are a really friendly bunch of people with some great work. Ta very much to all of them, especially for the Christmas meal. Good meals being few and far between for me at the moment, the steak was bea-a-utiful.
Good news: I’ve been asked to work freelance in January with Still Waters Run Deep. My first bit of proper work (i.e. not just a placement) and I also have a couple of bits of work in the pipeline for the chaps at Lewis Print, who printed my Christmas cards, and a wedding invite. And I’m going to push like hell for the invites to have some letterpressed type action!
Oh, and one last thing; I came across the rather charming Shopsin’s General Store whilst blog surfing today. Some really nice printed work and a clever little menu system (just a shame that the shop only exists in New York and that they only post to the U.S.). My particular favourite is the Bacon Scarf, shown below. Enjoy.

I’ll always have a special little place in my heart for 300million, them being my first placement in London after graduating and all.
They’re a cracking bunch of people and they are ridiculously good at what they do, so it was no surprise to see that their christmas card is more than just some spot varnished, wax sealed seasonal greeting. Because who’d want to get anything like that? *ahem*

Go see their blog for full details of this post. I wholehartedly advise you check back there regularly as it’s consistently top up with all sorts of treats for the eyes and brain.
Anyways, back to the wax sealing…

A little sneak peak at my Christmas card mailers.
If you work at one of the many excellent graphic design companies in the UK then don’t be surprised if one of these falls into your lap at some point in the near future.
